Chosen of the Lord
TOPIC: THE CHOSEN OF THE LORD (2)
Text: Jonah 1:16
In the last part of this series, we learnt that God chose us because He loved us and that we might bear fruits.
Today, as we continue in our study, may the Lord teach and bless us richly through His word in Jesus Name.
1. WHY MUST WE BEAR FRUITS
As we were born, God expects that we also should give birth to others if we are not going to be barren. Aside from this, unfruitfulness is a sign of worldliness, misuse of talents, avenues for master’s disappointment, divine judgment and final rejection. 2 Pet. 1:8, I Jn. 2:15, Lk. 13:6-7, 19:20-26, Matt. 3:10, Heb. 6:8, John 15:6.
2. CONDITIONS FOR EFFECTIVE FRUIT BEARING
In order to be able to effectively bear fruits for Christ, there are certain conditions we must satisfy:
i. Perpetual contact with Jesus
ii. Full understanding of the Master (Jesus)
iii. Being dead to the old life
iv. Constant spiritual polishing and
v. Abiding permanently in Jesus Christ.
Ps. 1:1-3, Matt. 13:23, Jn. 1:1, 12:24, Gal. 2:20, Jn. 15:2, 5-7, Phil.4:13.
TOPIC: THE CHOSEN OF THE LORD (3)
Text: Jonah 1: 5-16
In the last part of this series, we examined the reasons for bearing fruits and the conditions for effective fruit-bearing. Today, as we continue in our study, may the Lord teach us Himself and bless us through His word in Jesus Name. 1. 1. POWER FOR FRUIT BEARING
The Lord who had chosen and mandated us to go forth and bear fruits has supplied us with the necessary strength, grace, wisdom power to be successful soul-winners if we would only yield to him. Mark 16:17-18, Acts 1:8, Lk. 24:47-49, Rom. 15:15-16, Matt. 28:18-20, I Cor. 9:16-18, Jer. 1:5-7
2.PASSING THE BATONS OF THE GOSPEL TO OUR CHILDREN
It is not enough to win others to Christ but we are also to make disciples of them so that they too can become soul-winners. We are to pass the batons of the gospel of peace to our children who will in turn pass them on to their children and so on till Jesus comes. Gen. 18:18, ll Tim. 2:2, I Cor. 3:6-15, Ps. 71:17-18, Ps. 78:4-6, Ps. 145:4, Acts 20:25-28, Jn. 20:21.
